LEAVE ME BE.

LEAVE
 ME BE.

A sheet of corrugated, semi-transparent plastic, obscures a printed image of a figure curled tightly on the floor, face obscured.  While this image translates through the plastic under ambient lighting conditions, projected on with corresponding video art, a new image is imposed.  Lit from the front, the same image is produced, now nude, in varying levels of color, clarity, and transparency.

Here, I pose a series of binaries: infantilization and sexualization, opacity and transparency, body and mind, additive and subtractive color.  Perhaps this may communicate the violence of embodied queerness—a series of enforced binaries that alienate the body from experience, depersonify, and dehumanize.

Can we set the queer body into its materiality?
